I stopped at our local Sobey's store the other day. I don't shop there on a regular basis, but I have to say I was impressed and will be stopping more often! They had a great variety of organic produce, awesome greens to add to my smoothies and many new items that I hadn't seen there previously. As I pushed my cart through the aisles, I also noticed the relaxing music playing in the background and I had that "ahhh" feeling. A little corny, eh?
I love the inspiration offered by the

This is how I tackle the grocery store:
Shop with a list. By doing a little meal planning beforehand, you will not be overwhelmed by the variety of foods to choose from. It also means you are less likely to shop emotionally, buy unnecessary items or forget important ingredients.
Shop the produce section first. Be inspired here. Remember, we are supposed to eat 5-7 servings of fruit and vegetables daily. Plan your meals around produce instead of meat and/or starches.
Do the majority of your shopping on the perimeter of the grocery store. The inside aisles are where you find processed and refined foods which are less desirable. True, this is where pantry staples are also found, but don’t be tempted by the other products found here.
Make time to do your shopping. If you go in and grab “stuff” you are sure to forget something or treat yourself to something to fight the stress you are feeling. It is also difficult to be creative in a hurry.
Try something new: a seasonable vegetable or fruit, a new grain or spice. Who knows when you will find a new favourite.
If you are stuck in a rut, try shopping at a different grocery store or farmer’s market. It shakes things up and you will see different products.
